Duckeyyy admits MPL-PH teams are catching up with world champion Bren Esports

Coach Francis "Duckeyyy" Glindro could not help but admit that the teams in the MPL Philippines Season 7 are now catching up with his world champion team Bren Esports. 

At least in terms of having the strong desire to win. 

"I think nakakahabol na sila in a sense na syempre gusto rin nilang manalo. Everyone I think, every team dito sa MPL is gustong manalo (I think the MPL teams are catching up in a sense that they also badly want to win)," said Duckeyyy in the online post-match press conference after Bren's 2-1 loss to Aura PH on Saturday, March 27. 

The M2 world champions and reigning MPL kings crashed to an unlikely 0-3 start to Season 7. 

Bren went blank in the opening week after losing to Onic PH (2-1) and Nexplay Esports (2-0) before bowing down to fellow MPL titlist Aura PH in the second day of the second week. 

Still, Duckeyyy believes that his players are not lagging behind when it comes to mechanical skills and knowledge of the meta.  

The two-time world title winning tactician stressed that they must fix their mindset and have a greater discipline.  

"Hindi 'to sa pagiging kampante. Kailangan namin ng change of mindset at kailangan ng mas matinding disiplina. 0-3 kami pero I don't think nahuhuli kami in terms of mechanicals, individual game sense (It's not because we're being complacent. We need to have a change in mindset and discipline. We're 0-3 but I don't think we're behind in terms of mechanicals, individual game sense)," he said. 

"I feel that the biggest factor right now that's hindering us is the mindset." 

That was evident in their loss to Aura as Duckeyyy admitted that they committed a lot of mistakes especially in the deciding Game 3. 

"For me, sobrang daming errors coming into the mid-game in Game 3. Merong mga miscommunications tapos as in sobrang daming errors na sobrang avoidable na kailangan naming ayusin (There were a lot of errors coming into the mid-game in Game 3. There were miscommunications and avoidable errors that we need to fix)," he stressed. 

"Kailangan kong baguhin 'yung mindset nila as individual players (I need to change their mindset as individual players)." 

Duckeyyy needs to do it fast as Bren is set to take on the bounce-back win seeking Execration on Sunday, March 28, at 2 p.m. 

Execration suffered a 2-0 sweep at the hands of Blacklist International last Friday.
