Mic drop! Kai Sotto breaks silence on social media with a rap verse

Kai Sotto broke his silence on social media for the first time since his NBA G League stint went into naught last February.

In an Instagram post, Saturday morning, March 20, Sotto posted a series of photos and a stop motion clip showcasing his dunking prowess and cited a rap verse from FlipTop emcee and renowned local rapper Loonie for the caption.

The caption reads: "Kasi mas matagal kang darating sa paroroonan mo. Kung babatuhin mo lahat ng aso na kakahol sayo."

The certain verse is part of Omar Baliw's "Kalmado Part 1" which features Loonie and Rhyne.

As far as the lyrics are concerned, the whole rap suggests how one's mindset remains intact and focused despite the adversities of life -- be it doubters, haters, or personal hardships.

The post, which has garnered over 25.8K likes, received a warm welcome from fellow cagers such as Thirdy Ravena and Ricci Rivero and former volleyball star-turned-television personality Gretchen Ho.

Perhaps, this is what Sotto tries to keep in mind amid these trying times, especially after failing to rejoin Team Ignite at the NBA G League bubble in Orlando, Florida.

Last February 23, the league announced that both Team Ignite and Sotto had reached a "mutual decision" to let go of the Filipino youngster due to various circumstances such as international travel constraints, quarantine times and health and safety protocols.

The 7-foot-3 Filipino center was caught in between suiting up for the NBA G League or Gilas Pilipinas for the third and final window of the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers, which, unfortunately, was postponed due to the COVID-19 spike in Doha, Qatar.

The country eventually stepped up for hosting rights but it was obviously too late for Sotto, who decided to fly back to the US in the hopes of rejoining Team Ignite, which ended its campaign last March 8 after suffering a 127-102 quarterfinals defeat against Raptors 905.

Sotto's last update on social media was on February 12 wherein he announced the launching of a Philippine-themed shirt for his Kaiju brand as a remembrance and in celebration of his participation with Gilas Pilipinas.
