Despite constraints on mobility and resources, the Department of Justice (DOJ) achieved its goals in most of its targets in 2021, Justice Secretary Menardo I. Guevarra said on Thursday, Dec. 30.
One of the achievements is that public trust has been restored after the DOJ “ranked No. 1 in trust rating among executive agencies in an independent survey conducted in the NCR (National Capital Region) in July,” Guevarra said.
He also cited that the DOJ has a higher case disposition rate resulting in less case backlogs.
At the same time, Guevarra, who is chairman of the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT), said the Philippines has maintained in 2021 its Tier 1 ranking in the United States’ Department of State annual Trafficking in Persons (TIP) report.
For 2022, Guevarra expressed hopes that the DOJ will further improve its performance.
“We expect the pandemic to be under control in 2022 as we get to vaccinate at least 80 percent of our population,” he said.
“So, we likewise expect the DOJ to be more efficient and productive as mobility and resource constraints are gradually removed,” he pointed out.
