The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said that it will find solutions on the different concerns that were observed during the recent conduct of mock polls.
“Although doon sa ibang lugar na talagang marami pong nag-participate, ang nakikita lang na naging problema is iyong sa pag-feed na ng ballot – iyong pila, iyong queuing (In areas where many participated, the problems we observed were ballot feeding and queuing),” said Comelec - Education and Information Department (EID) Director Elaiza David in a public briefing on Thursday, Dec. 30.
“So siguro iyon ang dapat ding i-address kasi pag sa mismong araw na ng eleksyon, mas higit pa doon— mas marami pa po iyong magpa-participate (So maybe that's what we should also address because on election day, more people will participate),” she added.
The Comelec held mock elections in some parts of Metro Manila and six provinces on Wednesday, Dec. 29.
David also underscored the importance of implementing the safety protocols during election day.
“Iyon po ang isang sigurong sistema na dapat pa talagang ma-improve lalo’t we have to maintain po iyong distance unlike iyong previous elections na hindi naman po iyon kasama sa protocols natin during election (That's one of the system that we should probably improve, since we have to maintain distance---unlike in previous elections where it is not part of the election protocols),” she said.
“So iyon po, we took note of that problem po na pag-uusapan din po sigurado ng Comelec and we will be coming up po with the protocol or guidelines on how to address that problem naman po (We took note of that problem and the Comelec will definitely discuss that and we will be coming up with the protocol or guidelines on how to address that problem),” she added.
Meanwhile, David said that they have no plans yet of conducting another round of mock elections.
“Wala pa pong plan (There are no plans yet) for another mock elections,” she said.
David said that the poll body will focus on addressing the concerns in order for them to be prepared during the election day.
