The New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City has re-opened its doors to visitors of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) in its medium security camps.
In a statement, BuCor said the move is aimed at “boosting the moral and reconnecting PDLs to their loved ones.”
It said that “since the start of the pandemic, the visitation privilege of PDLs was cancelled in order to protect their welfare and prevent the spread of COVID-19 virus inside the camp.”
Under the guidelines, BuCor said that visitors are required to wear facemasks and face shields, and present vaccination cards or negative rapid antigen test result taken within 24 hours prior to their entry.
The visitation hours are set between 7 a.m. 3 p.m. for PDLs at Building 1 every Wednesday; Building 2 every Thursday; Building 7 every Friday; Building 5 and 6 every Saturday; and Building 4 and ICA Dorm every Sunday.
The guidelines also provide that only one visitor will be allowed to see a PDL once a week for a maximum of two hours.
Those who are not allowed to visit are 12 years old and below, 60 years old and above, pregnant women, and those who are immunocompromised.
“The Camp administration highly encourages all the visitors to cooperate with the health protocols and procedures of the NBP-MedSeCamp in order to protect the welfare of our PDLs,” BuCor said.
BuCor records showed that as of Dec. 16, a total of 27,529 PDLs has been vaccinated against COVID-19. NBP has a total inmate population of 28,516.
