In light of recent Typhoon Odette (Rai), McDonald’s Philippines, through its charity of choice, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), has committed to serve an additional 120,000 meals from its initial pledge of 20,000, through the generosity of its partners, Megaworld, Emperador Distillers, Dr. Andrew Tan and another 10,000 meals from Genosi, and other corporate and individual donors. The fast-food chain will now be serving 150,000 meals for communities affected by the super typhoon through their McDonald’s Kindness Kitchen program.

In partnership with Coca-Cola, Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF), the Naval Reserve Command Multi-Sectoral Linkaging Committee, Philippine Airlines, and Makati Medical Center Foundation Inc., McDonald’s Kindness Kitchen will be able to reach and serve affected communities in Cebu, Bohol, Iloilo, Surigao, Leyte and Palawan. McDonald's franchisees in said areas are also mobilizing to provide meals.

Franchise owners of McDonald’s in the affected areas have also mobilized and provided meals in their local community

“In the aftermath of Typhoon Odette, it is devastating to see the damage it has brought to the lives and livelihood of our kababayans, especially during this Christmas season,” said Kenneth S. Yang, McDonald’s Philippines president and CEO and RMHC president. “Now more than ever, we all need to work together to provide them with relief and help them rebuild. At McDonald’s, we are always guided by our core value of malasakit, and our immediate response is our commitment to serve 20,000 meals. We will continue to work with our partners both in the private and public sector for other opportunities to extend assistance to the hard-hit areas of Typhoon Odette.”
