Polling firm Gallup Korea has revealed the results of its year-end survey about Korean singers who shined in 2021 and the best songs of 2021.
Gallup Korea has been releasing its Person of the Year in each field including entertainment and sports.
For singers who shined in 2021 poll, Gallup Korea held three surveys: July 8- 27, 2021 (first round), Sept. 2-Oct. 4 (second round) and Nov. 5-28 (third round).
The number of respondents were 2,401 people aged 13 to 39 and 2,702 people aged 40 and older for a total of 5,103 respondents nationwide in South Korea except Jeju Island.
The results were divided into two categories: from 13 to 39 years old, and 40 and older.
In the 13-to-39 bracket, BTS, IU and BLACKPINK topped the survey while trot singers dominated the 40-and-older age bracket.
Under the 13 to 39 age group, BTS took first place with 45.6 percent of the results followed by IU with 32.1 percent, BLACKPINK with 10.4 percent, Lee Mu-jin with 9.2, trot singer Lim Young-woong with 7 percent, Aespa with 6.5 percent, TWICE with 5.3 percent, AKMU and Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon with 5.2 percent and Brave Girls with 4.3 percent.
Among 40 years old and older, trot singers grabbed nine of the top 10 places. BTS became the only K-pop artist who entered the top 10. Lim Young-woong grabbed first place with 36.3 percent followed Young Tak, 18.9 percent; Jang Yoon-jeong, 13.5 percent; Na Hoon-a, 11.7 percent; BTS, 10.2 percent; Lee Chanwon, 9.4 percent; Jung Dong-won, 8.8 percent; Jang Minho, 8.5 percent; Jin Sung, 8.2 percent; and Song Ga-in, 7.6 percent.

By age group, BTS were voted No. 1 among 13-18 years old (58.6 percent), 19-29 years old (42.9 percent) and 30-39 years old (40.3 percent), and second place (23 percent) among those in their 40s and fifth place (10 percent) among those in their 50s. Lim Young-woong topped the 40s, 50s and 60s age groups.
