Couldn't get enough of strawberries? Here are some new treats to try
By John Legaspi
There is no such thing as strawberry overload
There is a myriad of ways a culinary master can incorporate strawberries into any cuisine be it savory or sweet. For us Filipinos, nothing beats a good slice of strawberry shortcake or a tall glass of strawberry milkshake. But if you’re a loco for those red juicy fruit and want to try new ways to enjoy it, our latest finds are the next pink treats to try.

Giving a fruity twist to its signature offering, Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory introduces its newest creation, the Strawberry Milk Pie. Its iconic Hokkaido milk cream is mixed with sweet and sour strawberry puree, producing not only a new flavor but a dreamy pastel pink color. Contrasting its velvety texture is its crisp oven-baked pie exterior that almost melts in your mouth.
Going on a different culinary route is a new K-food restaurant in the country, Gogodak. Fried chicken has been a part of the Hallyu food craze, and its latest offering blurs the line between savory and sweet with its Strawberry Korean Fried Chicken. A first in the Philippines, this fruity combo with fried chicken is a jump from the usual orange chicken we see in the local dining landscape. What makes it is a boneless Korean fried chicken, coated with strawberry sauce, and comes with real strawberries on the side, definitely a new take on the classic Pinoy favorite.
Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory’s Strawberry Milk Pie comes in solo (P125) and also a box of five (P590). While Gogodak’s Strawberry Korean Fried Chicken is available in half (P399) and whole (P799) serving.
