In particular, Briones visited the Gabaldon School Building of Dauin Central School (DCS) in Dauin to check the status of the facility.

While some trees were knocked down around the structure, the Gabaldon School Building in DCS was able to withstand the onslaught of “Odette.”

Citing the history of Gabaldon School Building in DCS, DepEd noted that it was built in 1914. The restoration started in 2006.

DepEd said that the restoration of the Gabaldon School Building in DCS was completed on Nov. 5, 2020 pursuant to Republic Act No. 10066 or the “The National Cultural Heritage Act of 2009” and the RA No. 11194 or the “Gabaldon School Building Conservation Act.”

DepEd, through the Office of the Undersecretary for Administration, is leading the conservation and rehabilitation of Gabaldon School Buildings nationwide.
