'Matrix Resurrections' drops latest trailer ahead of Christmas premiere

A second trailer for the upcoming movie “Matrix Resurrections” recently dropped on YouTube and on social media platforms.

In the latest trailer, main protagonists Neo and Trinity, played by Keanu Reeves and Carrie Anne Moss respectively, have woken up to the realization that they are living within the Matrix.

Neo and Trinity were supposed to have died in their suicide mission to save Zion in the Matrix Revolutions 18 years ago.

But as seen on the recent trailer, here they are alive and leading picture perfect lives in the Matrix. But they do so with a real bad case of Déjà vu. Mr. Anderson is actually under medication for anxiety. But all of that ends as Mr. Anderson meets a new Morpheus type character played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and is again offered the red pill

The fourth installment of the iconic movie sci-fi series is apparently set in the future of what transpired in The Matrix Revolutions of 2003, after the apparent forced peace pact between the machines and the humans of Zion. The timeline is apparent as a woke Neo Anderson speaks with a grizzled Nairobi (Jada Pinkett-Smith) asking for guidance.

After being reunited and made aware of their history together, Neo and Trinity join a younger group of hackers/revolutionaries to fight the Matrix with British actress Jessica Yu-Li Henwick’s character Bugs helping Neo orient his way around the Matrix.

The new trailer interspersed the latest action from Resurrections with clips from past Matrix movies suggesting that Neo (and probably Trinity) will be experiencing flashbacks from their pasts. In one sequence, Neo, after beating back an agent, claims, “I still know kung fu,” a classic reference from the first movie.

Directed by Lana Wachowski and written by Lana Wachowski, David Mitchell and Aleksandar Hemon, the movie also stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Neil Patrick Harris.

“Matrix Resurrections” is set to premier on theatres and HBO Max on December 22.
