Much is being made of Bea Alonzo’s decision to pose as a Janet-come-lately 2022 calendar girl for a well- known liquor brand.

Some have been quite harsh in criticizing, even denouncing the A-list actress for having pulled off such a feat ‘’so late in the day.’’ Bea is already in her early 30s yet still lovely enough to be launched as a sex symbol through this calendar.

Said calendar is known for casting rising sexy actresses and starlets as calendar girls. Bea is about the only major-major star to grace its pages, which shocked some people naturally.

Others have not been kind. They bitched on social media that the veteran actress was no longer the spring chicken that she used to be and that she should have posed in this manner years ago.

Yet, the pictures don’t lie. They capture Bea in a positive light, ever so lovely and sexy in a classy sort of way.

Hers is probably the tamest calendar the brand has produced in years.

In an interview, the veteran actress said that back in her 20s, she had been offered the same calendar project again and again. Her management then turned it down repeatedly, afraid that it might harm her image as a star of wholesome romantic comedies.

Now under new management, by Shirley Kwan, Bea is probably on her way to reinventing herself by transitioning into more mature roles. Factor in sexy roles as well, why not.

She can’t languish in Sally Field and Meg Ryan rom-coms till kingdom come. Those, too, shall pass. Many younger actresses have also taken over the genre, the likes of Kathryn Bernardo, Liza Soberano, among others.

Besides, the money from the liquor company should be good. A good paycheck is rare to come by these days of the pandemic even among big stars. Bea is one of our highest paid. Well, she’s also one of the best.

By the way, heard that Erik Matti’s dream cast of a movie project involves Bea, together with John Lloyd Cruz and Joshua Garcia. They’re all very talented actors, and it would be a dream, indeed, to watch them play as a team in quite mature roles.
