Rep. Defensor: No Bongbong-Sara event at QMC

Anakalusugan Rep. Mike Defensor confirmed that the Liwasang Aurora at the Quezon Memorial Circle (QMC) will not be used as venue for the event of presidential aspirant Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos and vice-presidential candidate Sara Duterte-Carpio on Dec. 8.

Defensor said in an online press conference on Wednesday, Dec. 1, that the Bongbong-Sara motorcade in the city will push through on Dec. 8 but in a different venue.

The Quezon City government earlier sent a letter to Defensor's Team Malayang QC party on Nov. 30 for a meeting to discuss the health and safety measures before the team can use their chosen venue.

However, Defensor said that his team and the political party of Marcos and Carpio had agreed to withdraw their request even before they received the city's invitation for a meeting.

According to Defensor, they decided to hold the event in another venue on Commonwealth Ave. or Quezon Boulevard, which will require coordination with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

On Nov. 26, the Team Malayang QC sent a request for the use of the QCMC venue for the event, but they claimed that it was declined thrice by the local government.
