Paranaque Mayor Olivarez issues guidelines on movement of minors in malls, shopping centers

Paranaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez issued an executive order prescribing guidelines on the movement of minors in malls, shopping centers and other similar establishments.

Olivarez said minors aged 12 to 17 are allowed within the premises and inside malls, shopping centers and other similar establishments provided they are supervised at all times by their parents or guardians who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

He said minors below 12 years old are not allowed in indoor areas of malls and shopping centers except when their presence is indispensable to avail/obtain essential goods and services and to attend to health and legal matters or to avail government services.

Minors below 12 years old may be allowed in outdoor/alfresco areas of malls, shopping centers and other establishments.

The mayor ordered the deployment of the team of Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) under Atty. Melanie Malaya to check and ensure that establishments permitted to accommodate minors are accompanied by their parents or guardians.

Malaya instructed the BPLO team deployed to ensure that minimum public health standards, including the mandatory wearing of face mask and physical distancing, are strictly being observed by their patrons or clients.

Aside from the BPLO team, the police, Task Force Paranaque and barangay tanods will act as site marshals to make sure the order is being followed.

Malaya said establishments that will be found violating the order will face sanction -- either revocation of the safety seal certificate or permit issued by the local government.
