Happily, there are those who know how to say ‘’No.’’
At a time when it has become convenient and customary among actors and other entertainment personalities to push their careers forward to politics, a few have the good sense to distinguish between popularity and capability.
They are exceptions to the general sentiment that some actors, whose careers have either expired or are near-death, turn to politics as their next destination or saving grace.

Exception number one is Willie Revillame.
The veteran entertainer has done a Dolphy when he decided not to run for any public position in the 2022 national election.
And for that, he gained the respect of many.
Willie had been getting invites from various political groups, including one from the present administration, to run as senator of the republic. He would have been a shoo-in as winner, considering his wide popularity as TV host of Wowowin.
For a while there, it was thought the TV host was going to run, especially since he was being cast by Pres. Duterte himself.

Surely, the thought of being senator must have flirted around Willie’s head. Yet, after thorough deliberation, he decided against it.
Willie echoed what the late Comedy King Dolphy said when he was offered to run for a national post in his time. Dolphy said, and wisely so, that it would be easy for him to run and win an election.
‘’But, what will I do when I get there?,’’ he wondered.
Willie has wisely followed Dolphy’s example, saying that he thinks he’s more effective as an entertainer. As it were, Willie doesn’t only provide laughs to millions of his followers on his long-running GMA program, he also provides many them with various forms of livelihood.
The man doesn’t have to be a senator to be of service to people.
Thank you, Willie, for setting a good example with your mindset to present and future politicians.

Despite the anticipation of many that she would run for an elective post, Angel Locsin proved them all wrong when she didn’t file a certificate of candidacy with the Comelec even on its last day of registration, Oct. 8.
Her nephew, lawyer Neri Colmenares, a senatorial candidate in the May 2022 election, revealed during a recent media forum at Kamuning Bakery in Quezon City that the actress herself told him of her decision.
Atty. Colmenares quoted Angel as saying, ‘’Hindi ko po linya ’yang politics.’’
Earlier, talk was that the veteran actress would throw her hat into the political ring. Since Angel had been doing a lot of public service, people thought her next probable step would be a government post.
By not filing any certificate of candidacy, Angel has just won more hearts.
‘’She’s a true angel,’’ they say.
‘’She helps out of her own free will, her good heart.’’
