Eight persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) were released from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City last Sunday, Oct. 31, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said.
BuCor said that those freed had either been granted parole or had served their jail terms.
From Jan. 1 to Oct. 29, 2021, BuCor had released a total of 3,695 PDLs from its seven prison facilities all over the country.
“As always done, those released underwent COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test at the Infirmary Section and received transportation allowance for their travel expenses,” it said.
BuCor Director General Gerald Q. Bantag and Minimim Security Compound Acting Superintendent C/CInsp. Reynold T. Pablo Jr. commended the efforts of “all officials and personnel who process all pertinent documents for the release of PDLs despite restrictions imposed by COVID-19 pandemic protocols.”
Aside from NBP, the other Bucor prison facilities are the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City, the Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF), Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) in Palawan, San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF) in Zamboanga, Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) in Occidental Mindoro, and the Leyte Regional Prison (LRP).
