K-pop superstars BTS have been nominated in three categories at the 2021 American Music Awards (AMAs).
The AMAs will be held on Nov. 21 at 8 p.m. EST/PST (8 a.m. on Nov. 22 in the Philippines) at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
This year, BTS are nominated for Artist of the Year, Favorite Pop Duo or Group and Favorite Pop Song.
Last year, BTS, BTS, EXO and NCT 127 were nominated for Favorite Social Artist, an award which BTS won for three consecutive years from 2018 to 2020. BTS also won Favorite Duo or Group-Pop/Rock last year.
For Artist of the Year, BTS are competing against Ariana Grande, Drake, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift and The Weeknd.
In the Favorite Pop Duo or Group category, the nominees are BTS, AJR, Glass Animals, Maroon 5 and Silk Sonic (Bruno Mars, Anderson .Paak).
BTS’ “Butter” is nominated for Favorite Pop Song together with Doja Cat ft. SZA’a “Kiss Me More,” Dua Lipa’s “Levitating,” Olivia Rodrigo’s “drivers license” and The Weeknd & Ariana Grande’s “Save Your Tears (Remix).”
BTS earlier bagged nominations for The Group of 2021, The Song of 2021 and The Music Video of 2021 at the 2021 People's Choice Awards.
The new categories this year are Favorite Trending Song, with nominees from TikTok on the year’s most viral songs, Favorite Gospel Artist and Favorite Latin Duo or Group, according to MRC Entertainment.
“Nominees are based on key fan interactions – as reflected on the Billboard charts – including streaming, album sales, song sales and radio airplay. These measurements are tracked by Billboard and its data partner MRC Data, and cover the time period September 25, 2020, through September 23, 2021. The American Music Awards winners are voted entirely by fans,” MRC added.
