In celebration of a technological breakthrough that energizes water, Rajo Laurel presents an ode to biomorphic forms in his 2021 holiday collection
Fluid is Rajo Laurel’s 2021 holiday collection, fluid like water that flows. Each piece is shaped as if by the forces of nature, blown by the wind, adrift on the currents, sailing through the times, light, buoyant, undulating.
The collection, called Monomorph, celebrates both individuality and plurality, whose silhouettes evoke naturally occurring forms, like fluttering wings, swishing tails, rustling leaves, swaying trees, blooming flowers, rippling waves.

Some movement, a gesture, seems incorporated in the cut of each piece, imbued with its own vigor, in pursuit of which the material is chosen.
This same sensibility, as expressed in curves sensuous and contemplative, in shapes subtle yet striking, is replicated across the many lines under Rajo Laurel, such as in his demicouture line House of Laurel, where the holiday offerings are biomorphic sculptures reminiscent of the poetic, meditative works of the Japanese-American artist and landscape architect Isamu Noguchi, as well as in his ready-to-wear lines Rajo and Rajoman.
Incidentally, Monomorph is in part the designer’s collaboration with Ecospec Noveltech Philippines’ revolutionary product E20. The line of water systems, ranging from water dispensers to direct-to-the-water source filtration units, uses Singaporean technology invented by renowned marine engineer Chew Hwee Hong. It’s a technological breakthrough that uses ultra-low frequency to energize water, increasing its antioxidant content and other benefits without the need for chemicals and other additives. It’s an investment perfect for our time, when being healthy, carried like a signature style, is indispensable in making our mark. The non-chemical process, in effect, anti-oxidizes the water, which, in turn, as it makes its way through the digestive system, combats free-radicals in the body, boosting metabolism and strengthening the immune system.
In Monomorph, style is an ode to water as much as it is an ode to other forces of nature, such as human creativity and its power to heal the world.
