Less than 10% of 48,511 BuCor prisoners COVID vaccinated

Less than 10 percent or only 4,774 of 48,511 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) in seven prison facilities of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) have been vaccinated against COVID-19 as of Monday, Oct. 18.

Those vaccinated are from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City with 1,400 PDLs; 3,100 from the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City; 214 from the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF) in Zamboanga City; and 60 from the Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF).

BuCor said that the number of those vaccinated does not include 14 PDLs who had received their vaccine doses while in the custody of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).

Of those vaccinated in BuCor facilities, 3,314 had gotten their two doses – 3,100 at CIW and 214 at SRPPF.

Also, BuCor said that of the 1,682 prisons personnel, 588 of them have been vaccinated.

These personnel are from the NBP, 965; CIW, 137; Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm, 85; SRPPF, 270; Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm, 28; Leyte Regional Prison, 30; and DPPF, 38.
