2.2 million Filipinos receive national IDs so far - PSA


Over two million Philippine identification (PhilID) cards have been distributed across the country so far, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said Thursday, Oct. 14.

PSA Assistant Secretary Rosalinda Bautista said 2.2 million Filipinos have received their PhilID as of Sept. 30, citing a report from the Philippine Postal Corporation (PhilPost).

“Pagdating naman sa nakatanggap na ng kanilang ID, ang report ng PhilPost as of September 30, ay meron nang 2.2 million na Filipinos na nakatanggap na ng kanilang PhilID (When it comes to those who have already received their ID, as per report from PhilPost as of September 30, there are already 2.2 million Filipinos who have already received their PhilID),” Bautista said in a public briefing.

“At ang target naman namin para sa taong ito ay makapag-distribute kami sa 15 million na Filipinos ’yung kanilang PhilID (And our target for this year is to be able to distribute PhilIDs to 15 million Filipinos),” she added.

Meanwhile, 43.2 million out of the target 70 million Filipinos this year have undergone the Step 1 in the registration for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) as of Oct. 8.

Moreover, some 34.99 million out of the target 50 million Filipinos this year had their biometrics captured under the Step 2 as of Oct. 6.

Bautista urged Filipinos to register in the PhilSys through their field offices at the barangay level or via online through register.philsys.gov.ph.
