92 CIW inmates get COVID vaccines

Ninety-two persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) were vaccinated against COVID-19 at the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said on Friday, Oct. 1.

In a statement, BuCor said the vaccination operation was done last Sept. 29 with the help of the Mandaluyong City Health Department.

“The CIW family, guided by CTCInsp. Hylene C.Pancho and supervised by Gerald Q. Bantag, BuCor director-general, wishes to express gratitude to physiciansGretel Celine Estigoy, Jackie Edora, and Lyka Jamela of the City Health Department, and all vaccinators for dedicating their time to administer the vaccination of PDLs at this facility,” BuCor said.

As of Aug. 31, 2021, a total of 3,100 CIW inmates had received their COVID vaccinations.

Aside from those at CIW, BuCor earlier said other PDLs who got vaccinated included 214 inmates at the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) in Zamboanga and 60 at the Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF).

Also vaccinated were 1,094 BuCor personnel in its seven prison facilities in the country, it added.
