Emerald Garden, home of the famous giant siopao Tai Pao, remains closed

Social media posts about a particular restaurant reopening brought joy to many Filipino foodies, thinking that it is the comeback of the famous Roxas Blvd. food spot Emerald Garden Restaurant. Unfortunately, that is not what's going to happen as the restaurant sets the record straight that its operation is still on a halt.

"Please be informed that the one and only Emerald Garden has not yet resumed operations," the restaurant said through a notice. "We are not associated with establishments that use our name or claim to be related to Emerald Garden."

Famous for its giant siopao (stuffed steamed buns) called Tai Pao, the restaurant remains closed ever since the start of the community quarantine in the country. News about it shutting down circulated on social media last year, but there was no actual announcement made by the establishment.Â

"While we remain dormant, Emerald wishes to thank you all for your support and patronage for 30 years!," the restaurant ends.

Looks like our craving for those giant siopaos is extended. *sigh*
