Elbert's Diner to close down Rockwell shop

The food brand will continue to serve its customers online

Famous for its great beef and premium cheese and baguette sandwiches, Elbert's Diner became a go-to place for many Filipinos craving for comfort food treats. Sadly, the beloved restaurant is about to close to its store located at Power Plant Mall in Rockwell.

"Today, we are sad to say goodbye once again to this mall, which has been nothing but good to us," the restaurant posted on Facebook. "This Sunday, the 31st of January 2021 will be our last day as a restaurant (at least for now)."

It seems like history is about to repeat itself for Elbert's Diner. The food establishment first opened its mall shop in 2009, known then as Elbert’s Cheesesteak Sandwiches. In 2014, it moved to Alabang. And four years later, it returned to its original home, bearing a new name Elbert's Diner.

Unlike its first departure, where the reason for closing was relocation, the restaurant will be operating only via online by the end of the month.

With the lack of foot traffic happening among food establishments in the metro due to the pandemic, restaurants are being pushed to shift to operating online or permanently shutting down their business for good.

"We will continue to serve our sandwiches through our online delivery portal ElbertsDelivers.com," the statement said. "We hope to see you for one last time before we roll down our doors. Thank you for all your support throughout all these years. We are hopeful that we will be back some day. We are proud of our sandwiches and will do our best to find them a home again."
