Eric Clapton, the Hall of Famer singer-guitarist and “vaccine skeptic,” played in a venue with required vaccine proof.

This after vowing last July that he will not play concert venues that require fans to present a vaccine pass.

Rolling Stone magazine’s recent article called Clapton an ‘Anti-vax hypocrite’ when the guitarist recently pushed through with his concert at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.

Rolling Stone, who previously reported about Clapton’s vow to not play venues with vaccine mandates wrote, “he broke that absurd promise” by pushing through with the aforementioned concert.

Said concert venue “requires all ticket holders 12 and above, as well as staff and participants, to either prove they have received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine or provide a negative test taken within 72 hours. Moreover, they must wear a mask while not eating or drinking.” This is according to the venue’s website.

Clapton’s released statements and stance during the pandemic are well recorded by Rolling Stone. “Clapton, who was previously famous for his skill as a guitarist, has spent the past year complaining about Covid-19 regulations, vaccinations, and touring mandates.

First, he teamed up with Van Morisson for anti-lockdown tracks “Stand and Deliver” and “The Rebels” before releasing his own song “This Has Gotta Stop,” the magazine wrote. It also noted that “the musician is vaccinated but famously regretted the decision,” referring to Clapton’s statement about the “disastrous” effect he endured after taking the AstraZeneca vaccine.

The Rolling Stone article further mocked Clapton when it wrote in the closed caption, “Maybe he should start a band with Nicki Minaj’s cousin’s friend?”
