The Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) in Occidental Mindoro is set to release 13 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs), the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said on Monday, Sept. 20.
BuCor said those set for release have undergone RT-PCR Saliva Testing at SPPF Hospital last Sept. 16 “in preparation for the PDLs’ travel requirements to their receiving local government units.”
“The External Affairs Section (EAS) headed by CSInsp. Anthony Nupable Omega in coordination with the Philippines Red Cross (PRC) - Occidental Mindoro Chapter facilitated the activity,” it said.
“Due to the numbers of PDL to be tested the EAS opted to conduct the saliva sample collection inside the reservation,” it noted.
Last August, BuCor said 24 inmates were released from the SPPF. They were among the 339 PDLs released last August from the BuCor’s prison facilities in across the country.
Those released included 223 from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City; 35 from the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City; eight from the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) in Palawan; 16 from the Leyte Regional Prison (LRP); 29 from the Davao Prison and Penal Farm; and four from the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF) in Zamboanga.
