Buntan eyes bout with Lipianska, rematch with Kitchen

Filipino-American muay thai fighter Jackie Buntan has set sights on a possible bout with Viktoria Lipianska of Slovakia and a rematch with Amber Kitchen of the United Kingdom in the Circle.

Lipianska scored a hard-earned win over Kitchen last September 2019, one of the earliest bouts for the women's strawweight division.

While the announcement of strawweight title and rankings is still left hanging, Buntan wants to fight as many times possible to improve her final standing in the leaderboard.

"It's hard to say coz there's not a lot of girls who have fought yet but I'd like to fight Viktoria since she won against Amber," said Buntan, who now has three straight wins in the promotion for an overall 23-5 muay thai record.

"And I'd like to fight Amber again coz me and Amber fought when we were amateur fighters so she actually won that fight so I love a rematch with her on the ONE Championship stage," added the product of Boxing Works.

Buntan had those three victories this year alone not to mention her impressive promotional debut against Thai rising star Wondergirl Fairtex in February.

The Fil-Am fighter followed it up with another stellar performance against Ekaterina Vandaryeva of Belarus en route to a majority decision victory and recently against Argentine foe Daniela Lopez via unanimous decision.

"Like I said, my division is still new and there's a handful of girls who haven't fought. I'm totally fine having another fight and fighting one of these girls in order to get that title shot," said Buntan.

"I'll be patient but like I said, I came into ONE Championship and my intention's clear on that title shot."

ONE Championship has yet to announce the inauguration of the women's strawweight muay thai world championship but an article by Nathan McCarter cited that "Buntan could be one of the first two people challenging for the belt."
