Buntan beats Argentine foe for third straight win

Jackie Buntan (ONE Championship)

Filipino-American muay thai fighter Jackie Buntan hammered strong combinations to Argentine foe Daniela Lopez en route to her third straight win in the ONE Super Series strawweight bout in the historic ONE: Empower all-female card at the Singapore Indoor Stadium Friday night, Sept. 3

Buntan, who improved to a 23-5 muay thai record, showed superb and precise striking early in the first round, landing a couple of combinations and leg kicks on Lopez.

Buntan caught Lopez off guard with a solid left off a combination which wobbled the Argentine fighter away from her.

The 23-year-old Buntan carried on with the punishment with solid combinations heading into the second frame.

After gaining momentum in the first round, Buntan continued her power striking with a quick combination and a slick uppercut before throwing another crisp left overhand on Lopez.

The Fil-Am warrior finished the second round strong with multiple body kicks capped by a powerful right hand and a solid front kick.

All confident and still composed, Buntan sealed the deal in the third round as she unpacked a solid counter right which sent the tenacious Argentine fighter stunned at center ring.

The product of Boxing Works ended the match on a high note with finesse with a spinning elbow on Lopez before the final clapper.

"Going into it, I trust my coach Bryan . He's a wizard at this stuff so that's all I could ask for -- having him in my corner," Buntan told ONE commentator Mitch Chilson with a chuckle.

The win marked Buntan's third consecutive victory in the promotion since her debut last February against Wondergirl Fairtex.

Lopez, for her part, fell to a 7-4 slate.
