The 12th edition of Miss Supranational pageant will air on Sunday, August 22 at 2am, live via satellite from Nowy Sącz, Poland on CNN Philippines.
This followed the announcement made last April 14 by Miss and Mister Supranational president Gerhard Parzutka von Lipinski that the contest will be held on August 21. Supranational 2021 was originally scheduled at the end of 2020 but was postponed due to the pandemic.
Philippines’ bet, Dindi Pajares will compete against 56 other contestants. A native from Orani Bataan, Pajares is an entrepreneur, flight attendant, military sergeant and a reserve commander for the Philippine Air Force.
Before joining Miss Supranational, Pajares also joined Miss Philippines Earth 2011; Binibining Pilipinas 2016 and 2017; and Miss World Philippines 2020, where she was crowned Miss Supranational Philippines 2021.
Miss Supranational began in 2009 in Poland. The most recent competition involved candidates from 77 countries. Meanwhile, its male counterpart, Mister Supranational, began in 2016, also in Poland.
The current pageant title holders are Anntonia Porsild of Thailand, and Nate Crnkovich of the United States. The Philippines has so far won one Miss Supranational crown, with Mutya Datul’s triumph in 2013.
Miss World Philippines National Director and Miss/Mr. Supranational Philippines franchise holder Arnold Vegafria is excited about the country's participation in the prestigious pageant that highlights glamour, fashion and natural beauty.
He says, "We were actually more than ready to field our candidates when we finalized our partnership with the Miss/Mr. Supranational organization last year, but it was unfortunate that we had to set aside our plans because of the global pandemic. With the more optimistic global scenario these days, I'm very certain that Dindi stands a good chance of claiming the crown and putting the Philippines back on the pageant map."
