Now more than ever, nutrition and living a healthy lifestyle should be our utmost priority, as they are our best defense in these trying times.

Sadly, we are surrounded by easy-to-cook, frozen, and processed unhealthy food options. Without us knowing, sugar-sweetened beverages, shortening, and red processed meat are causing inflammation in our body.

Inflammation and unhealthy food choices

According to Dr. Kaycee Reyes of Luminisce, inflammation can affect our body’s overall performance. Indulging too much in inflammation-causing food items can cause skin aging. In this light, the good doctor created an array of food choices under the brand Innosense Organics—each product is curated to help the consumer counter inflammation.

“The anti-inflammatory diet is a way to re-evaluate how we’ve been eating and it brings attention to our food choices and our lifestyle,” the St. John’s Institute of Dermatology at Guy’s & St. Thomas Hospital in London alumna says. “I like to call this particular diet as a reset, because it is like taking a pause on the stresses of our everyday life where we become more mindful of what we consume.”

SOUPLEMENT Sip your way to better health with restorative broths made only from fresh, organic meat and a special mix of herbs and spices. Rich in collagen, calcium, magnesium, and other essential nutrients, each brewed concoction delivers a bevy of good-for-you benefits for the skin, bones, and digestive system

Dr. Kaycee, who completed her Master of Science in Preventive and Regenerative Medicine at Dresden International University in Germany, explains that the immune system becomes activated when our body recognizes anything that is foreign. That includes invading microbes, plant pollen, or chemicals. It often triggers a process called inflammation, which protects the body from these invaders.

‘The anti-inflammatory diet is a way to re-evaluate how we’ve been eating and it brings attention to our food choices and our lifestyle.’

She also says that when the inflammation becomes chronic, it may cause major diseases such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, depression, and Alzheimer’s. Some of these conditions are identified as comorbidities for COVID-19.

On the other hand, food items that are rich in antioxidants and polyphenols such as fruits and leafy green vegetables can protect against inflammation. That is why she made sure that these nutrients can be found in each item of Innosense Organics.

Must-try products

Some of the must try food items under this brand are the free-range turkey broth, chicken broth, turkey balls, and turkey patties, which are all pure organic. The crude fat content of Innosense products is certified by the National Food Authority Food Development Center and the meat is certified as chemical-free by the National Meat Inspection Service.

For healthy beverages, which are made fresh daily, try the red juice (beets, apple, ginger, lemon, carrots, and cucumber); green juice (kale, spinach, cucumber, lemon, red grapes, ginger, celery, and apple); and yellow juice (pineapple, yellow bell pepper, lemon, ginger, wild honey). Innosense Organics also has pure organic wild honey.

Dr. Kaycee admits that while it is a struggle to eat the best food for our body when everyone is agitated by the pandemic, the situation also reminds us of that we are blessed to live in a beautiful country that grows fresh produce like turmeric, ginger, and garlic—the biggest contributors in any anti-inflammatory diet.

“The body is best protected from life-threatening diseases when it is nourished properly with a well-balanced diet,” she says.
