All throughout Day 1 and Day 7, the Tech Summit 2021: The Future Series moved on from different topics that are relevant, especially during the ongoing pandemic.

The current health crisis has sparked an unprecedented adoption of cloud technologies, and this was clearly discussed during Day 4: The Future of Business (Cloud, Hybrid IT and Everything-as-a-service).

Driven by the necessity for resiliency, evolve business operations, support remote workforce, embrace online education, roll-out of government to citizen (G2C) services, among others, organizations have charted their course of digital transformation and cloud journeys.

While Day 1 focused more on Intelligent IP Network delivered by Huawei technology and Secure Networking from VMWare, Fortinet, and Cisco, Day 4 featured Industry Insights, Hybrid Cloud Management, Automation, and Enterprise Innovation for best business practices.

Cloud Adoption

Presenting Alibaba Cloud Intelligence, the topic dives into how businesses must accelerate digitalization. Alibaba Cloud started in 2009 and initially supported Alibaba Group and its different business units. “In 2017 we have partnered with and become the cloud services provider for the Olympic games as we served the international market and it showed how we are gaining more international customers and multi-national companies, especially those who are expanding their operations and business in the Asia-Pacific regions,” says Clarence Pascua, Solutions Architect, Alibaba Cloud Intelligence. “We see a lot of growth in the awareness for cloud adoption, the increase of more infrastructure, the maturity of technology, and continuous innovation. In the next ten years, we see an increase in digitalization. We are seeing more on premises infrastructures, as well as work loads will be moving to the cloud. That movement will power a lot of digitalization for businesses,” Pascua continued.

SMS as an effective way to reach customers

In the Philippines, there are about 94% (Age: 16-64yo) who have their mobile phones and this statistic gives importance to a solution to allow businesses to effectively reach their customers because mobile phones support SMS quickly and very timely. “Our Alibaba Cloud SMS provides global coverage with access to over 200 countries and is easy to deploy and use. It is also secure and stable and has been serving billions of messages per month and it is running on Alibaba Cloud infrastructure,” said Pascual who shared the company’s insights and best practices in business.

Alibaba Cloud adheres to the security standards, world class, top in Asia, and compliant with Philippine Regulators.

Cloud Strategy

With more than 44 years of helping customers manage the world’s most important data, Oracle, a company that develops and builds tools for database development and systems of middle-tier software, enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, Human Capital Management (HCM) software, customer relationship management (CRM) software (AKA customer experience), enterprise performance management (EPM) software, and supply chain management (SCM) software, has been serving more than 400,000 customers who trusted Oracle to run their businesses.

“Our history is more important now than it has ever been. Since technology has become so important to business operations, having the right technology foundation makes a difference in being able to adapt and change paths, and being resilient when the world changes,” shared Karen Co, Sales Director, ASEAN, Oracle.

Many industry leaders rely on Oracle to move fast and be more resilient such as Zoom, Mastercard, Western Digital, among others. “Zoom decided to partner with us to expand and went from deployment to live production with Oracle Cloud infrastructure in just nine hours. As a result, they were able to support growth from 10 million daily participants in December 2019 to 300 million in April 2020,” Karen mentioned during her presentation of upping business skills through cloud strategy.

Driving Enterprise Innovation

Technology has been initiating waves of disruptions in many industries and gave positive results that transforms businesses to expand and grow with speed. Digital system stability has also become mandatory as demands explodes in e-commerce, digital media, pharmaceuticals, transportation, and telecommunication network providers in the country today.

“Red Hat believes that the open hybrid cloud can help solve and provide business and enterprise problems: Flexibility + Consistency + Efficiency. Red Hat has a vision for open hybrid cloud for nearly seven years already. The open hybrid cloud is Red Hat’s recommended strategy for architecting, developing, and operating a hybrid mix of applications delivering a fully flexible cloud experience with speed, stability, and scale required for digital business transformation,” said John Lemuel Nicolas, Channels Solutions Architect, Red Hat Philippines.

“Additionally, open hybrid cloud involves using platforms to run both traditional and new cloud native workloads from anywhere from data center to the edge; development tools to rapidly innovate applications that can be highly integrated and continuously deployed; management technologies and systems to enable automation across applications, teams, and processes; manage services so customers can pursue these technologies as services and leave the operations to us; training and services to help teams improve their processes in order to get the most out of an open hybrid cloud approach; and last but not the least, partner ecosystem to give customers technologies tested, supported, and certified with most major cloud hardware and software providers,” he added.

An open hybrid cloud starts with open source and only Red Hat has the proven history to deliver the enterprise open source innovation, that is the foundation of the open hybrid cloud. Open source fuels rapid innovation for more than 1,000,000 projects across the cloud network.
