One hundred and forty-nine persons have finished their training courses and graduated last Thursday, May 27, as corrections officers of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor).
In a statement, BuCor said the graduation ceremony for the “Singkalis” class was held at the parade grounds of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City and was attended by Deputy Director General Gabriel P. Chaclag in behalf of BuCor Director General Gerald Q. Bantag.
Composed of professionals, the ‘Singakalis’ class is made up 83 male and 66 female who are all strong and valiant officers,” it said.
The class name, ‘Singkalis,’ was coined from the vernacular: “sinisimbulo ang galing, kahusayan, lakas at integridad para sa serbisyo (symbolizing skill, excellence, strength and integrity in service),” it said.
During the ceremony, Chaclag “underscored the importance of integrity, character and competence to the new breed of officers” as he encouraged all officers “to be part of the changes initiated by DG Bantag with the end view taking BuCor to its full potential.”
