10 ingredients to take out from your beauty products

CLEAN BEAUTY. Saving the earth one beauty product at a time.

We are all connected, and what we use and how we chose to live affects Mother Earth—even down to the beauty products that we use. Watsons realizes the importance of taking care of oneself and the whole planet. Mindfully created with sustainability in mind, the healthy and beauty retail brand reminds us of its Clean Beauty category.

What is clean beauty? They are products that do not contain harmful ingredients that may wreak havoc onto our bodies and even to the planet. These brands use ingredients harvested from responsibly-managed forests instead. Their packaging also use less plastic and paper waste.

But with so many ingredients printed on the packaging's label, it can get overwhelming on what to watch out for. Watsons has listed down 10 of these that we should watch out for.

  2. Triclosan, an ingredient used for antibacterial and preservative, can result to hormone disruption.
  3. Triclocarban, antibacterial and preservative, can also cause hormone disruption.

  5. Chloroacetamide, used as an antibacterial and preservative, can also result to skin allergies.
  6. Phthalates, a fragrance ingredient, can affect hormone disruption.
  7. O-phenylphenol, preservative and fragrance ingredient, can eventually respiratory problems and skin irritation.
  8. Borates, an emulsifier or preservative, can also cause skin irritation and hormone disruption.
