New head of BuCor’s DPPF in Davao del Norte named

The Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF) in Davao del Norte is now headed by Corrections Technical Senior Superintendent Albert C. Manalo.

In a statement, DPPF said Manalo took over the post from Corrections Chief Superintendent Julie May Taguiam who served as head of the prison farm since December last year.

DPPF said a change of command was done in a ceremony last Wednesday, May 19.

During the ceremony, it said that Taguiam was “awarded by the administration of DPPF the Plaque of Recognition for her invaluable dedication and commitment to service as the Regional Superintendent of this penal institution making DPPF one of the most active penal facilities of BuCor (Bureau of Corrections) in terms of infrastructure projects, accomplishments, PDL (person deprived of liberty) releases, personnel welfare and development and programs related to reformation and rehabilitation of PDLS.”

Prior to her DPPF post, Taguiam served as superintendent of the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF) in Zamboanga City.

The DPPF statement did not say if say if Taguiam was transferred to another penal farm or has retired.

Aside from the DPPF and SRPPF, BuCor has five other operating prison units nationwide. These are the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City; Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City; Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm in Occidental Mindoro; and Leyte Regional Prison in Abuyog, Leyte.
