The Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) has expressed gratitude to the Philippine National Police (PNP) for the recent arrest of a former policeman accused in the 2019 killing of a lawyer in Rodriguez, Rizal.
“The cooperation and collaboration between the IBP and PNP in the Lawyer Security and Justice Program continues to produce positive results and contributes to the bigger ‘Justice Bilis’ (fast justice) campaign,” IBP President Domingo Egon Q. Cayosa said in a statement issued last Tuesday, May 18.
The PNP arrested in Sorsogon City last Friday, May 14, former policeman Benito Sarcilla Julian Jr. who is one of the accused in the murder of lawyer Adilberto V. Golla Jr.
“The arrest of accused Julian who is an AWOL (absent without leave) police officer happens as newly designated PNP Chief Guillermo Eleazar intensifies the campaign to rid the PNP of scalawags,” Cayosa said.
He said the “IBP supports the conduct of follow-up investigations and operations to ferret out the mastermind and the conspirators of the arrested accused.”
Golla was gunned down on May 17, 2019 in Eastwood Greenview Subdivision in Barangay San Isidro, Rodriguez, Rizal.
The PNP arrested Senior Master Sergeant Michael Eralino and Corporal Alberto Umali for the killing and charged them with murder.
Julian, who was also charged, evaded arrest until he was apprehended by the PNP in Sorsogon City.
