COMELEC to hold virtual media conferences for 2022 NLE starting May 14
Starting Friday, May 14, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) will be holding virtual media conferences in relation to the 2022 National and Local Elections (NLE).

“We will be instituting these regular public briefings as an integral part of our preparations for the upcoming national and local elections on May 9, 2022,” said Spokesperson James Jimenez in a statement issued Thursday, May 13.
“This maiden briefing will set the tone for the preparatory period, in the run-up to election day, less than a year away,” Jimenez added.
The virtual media conferences will streamed live on the official Facebook Page of COMELEC at fb.com/comelec.ph.
COMELEC Chairman Sheriff M. Abas is expected to formally open the program along with a welcome message to be followed by the Commissioners of the Commission en Banc.
Meanwhile, COMELEC Steering Committee Head Commissioner Marlon S. Casquejo will also give an overview of the 2022 NLE. Important updates on the COMELEC’s preparations will be provided by Executive Director Bartolome J. Sinocruz, Jr.
“Given COVID-19, these virtual briefings are good opportunities for the COMELEC to regularly and safely apprise all election stakeholders of important developments in the upcoming elections,” Jimenez said.
Members of the press will be given time to raise their questions to the panel of speakers during the virtual media briefings. “Through this platform, relevant and timely information will be readily available to the general public,” Jimenez added.
