BuCor gets added firearms on one-year deal from PNP

Bureau of Corrections

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) has beefed up its armory in the National Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City with firearms obtained from the Philippine National Police (PNP).

In a statement, BuCor said that through a one-year agreement with the PNP, the bureau “was loaned 50 M16A1 rifles and 50 shotguns.”

It said the additional firearms will be “a huge help in increasing BuCor Officers’ capability to secure the New Bilibid Prison especially the Maximum Security Compound.”

It paid tribute to the “teamwork and cooperation” between it and the PNP under the leaderships of BuCor Director General Gerald Q. Bantag and outgoing PNP Chief Gen. Debold M. Sinas.

“Aside from beefing up equipment, BuCor’s recruitment program has been ongoing in fulfillment of the agency’s modernization plan,” it added.
