Man faces criminal charges for threats to post sex videos online
A man has been charged with extortion in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act for threatening to spread online the sex videos of a woman.

National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Officer-in-Charge Director Eric B. Distor identified the suspect as Alfonzo Juaquin Lazatin who was arrested last April 15 inside a mall in San Fernando City in Pampanga.
Lazatin was arrested by agents of the NBI’s Central Luzon Regional Office (CELRO). Seized from him was P2,000 in marked money.
“Subject Lazatin was presented for inquest proceedings on April 16, 2021 before the Office of Prosecutor of San Fernando City for the crime of Robbery (Extortion) punishable under the Revised Penal Code in relation to R.A. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012),” the NBI said in a statement.
“On the same day, the Prosecutor issued an Inquest Resolution finding probable cause to indict the subject as charged and recommended his prosecution for the said violations of the law,” it added.
The NBI said its CELRO conducted an entrapment operation based on the report by a female complainant who alleged that “sometime in October 2020, she saw a Facebook post of the subject offering a straight swap of Xiaomi Red Note 9 (cellphone).”
After the telephone swap, Lazatin “contacted the complainant informing her that the battery of the cellphone expanded, and demanded P2,000 for the repair of the battery to which complainant initially refused.”
However, the NBI said that Lazatin threatened that “he will tag her online that she is a ‘scammer’ and will post her identification and sex videos which the subject was able to retrieve from her phone.”
It said that Lazatin was able to post online the complainant’s government identification cards.
The complainant sought the help of the NBI, it added.
