Thirty-four persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City had been granted parole and released last Monday, March 8.
In a statement, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said that “gratuity and transportation allowance were provided to the PDLs.”
Under the leadership of BuCor Dirctor General Gerald Q. Bantag, the bureau said it “continuously carries out its mandate to safekeep and reform our PDLs while in our custody until they are released.”
Before their release, BuCor said the 34 PDLs participated in the culminating program, a ceremony held to serve as a graceful exit from detention.
Inspirational message and guidance were given by BuCor Deputy Director General for Operations and Reformation Gabriel P. Chaclag.
Aside from the NBP, the Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF) reported last January the release of 11 PDLs who had also been granted parole.
