Guevarra assures submission of NBI report to prosecutors investigating Dacera's death
Justice Secretary Menardo I. Guevarra on Wednesday, Feb. 3, assured that the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will submit the results of its probe on the death of then flight attendant Christine Angelica F. Dacera last Jan. 1.

Guevarra said the results will be forwarded to the Makati City prosecutors’ office before it wraps up its preliminary investigation on the case filed by the Philippine National Police (PNP).
The PNP has charged 11 men of rape with homicide in connection with her death. Thereafter, the Makati City prosecutors’ office started its preliminary investigation.
Amidst criticisms that the PNP has bungled the case, Guevarra issued last Jan. 8 Department Order No. 006 that directed the NBI “to conduct an investigation on the death of Christine F. Dacera, who died on 01 January 2021 in Makati City and, if evidence warrants, to file the appropriate charges against all persons involved and found responsible for any unlawful act in connection therewith.”
“I will endorse the NBI report on Dacera to the investigating prosecutor as soon as I receive it,” Guevarra told journalists covering the Department of Justice (DOJ).
He added he did not give any deadline for the NBI to finish its probe and submit its report because “the NBI, itself, has said it wants all bases covered.”
“But I'm sure that the NBI will be able to submit its report before the prosecutor concludes the preliminary investigation and resolves the case,” he stressed.
Dacera was found unconscious last Jan. 1 in the bath tub of her room at the City Garden Grand Hotel in Makati City where she celebrated the new year with her friends.
She was rushed to the Makati Medical Center (MMC) but was declared dead on arrival.
