An officer of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) has been arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for allegedly raping a female occupant of his boarding house in Pasay City.
NBI Officer-In-Charge Director Eric Distor on Thursday, Jan. 28, announced the arrest of BJMP Sr. Insp. Ramon Carolino.
Carolino was arrested at his home in Leveriza St. Pasay City last Jan. 16 by operatives of the NBI’s Task Force Against Illegal Drugs (NBI-TFAID).
Following his arrest, Carolino was immediately presented for inquest before the Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office for rape in violation of the Revised Penal Code.
Distor said the arrest was made after Carolino’s female alleged victim appeared before the NBI last Jan. 16 and filed a complaint against the jail officer.
“Medico-Genitalia examination was conducted on the victim and preliminary report by NBI-Medico Legal Division (NBI-MLD) found lacerations/injuries on victim’s genital,” the NBI said in a statement.
“Acting on these information, NBI operatives conducted hot pursuit of the subject,” it added.
The 26-year-old victim recounted that she had been drinking liquor with the suspect when at around 5:30 a.m. of Jan. 16 she got raped by Carolino.
