Newly appointed Justice Undersecretary Jon Paulo Salvahan has been tasked as the person in charge of the Bureau of Immigration (BI), Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said Saturday.

Guevarra said Salvahan took his oath of office immediately after Malacanang approved his appointment.
“Undersecretary Salvahan took his oath before me last Wednesday and assumed office the following day,” the Justice Secretary said.
Salvahan filled the vacancy following the resignation of Justice Undersecretary Markk Perete last Oct. 1.
“He (Salvahan) will take over many of the responsibilities of former Undersecretary Markk Perete, including supervision over the Bureau of Immigration,” Guevarra said.
Guevarra said Justice Undersecretary Emmeline Aglipay-Villar will continue to be DoJ spokesperson.
Salvahan graduated with a degree in political science at the University of the Philippines (UP) Manila in 2006 and from the Ateneo de Manila University Law School in 2010.
He was a junior law partner of Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea’s law firm Medialdea, Bello, and Suarez.
This was the previous law firm of Gueverra when it was still called Medialdea, Ata, Bello, Guevarra, and Suarez.
