UAAP: UST Tigers exodus not yet over. Is Mark Nonoy next?

An empty Tigers cage could be the only thing left by the time the exodus of University of Santo Tomas players is over.

Sources told Manila Bulletin Sunday that Mark Nonoy could become the latest player to leave the Growling Tigers den following reports that he is headed to De La Salle.

No official word has been announced just yet from Nonoy or La Salle at press time although online sites have already reported on the impending transfer.

Another source also claimed that he is indeed moving to the Green Archers' lair.

Earlier reports also indicated Adamson may be interested in acquiring Nonoy’s services after photos of him with Adamson coach Franz Pumaren, who played for and steered the Green Archers to five UAAP championships, surfaced online.

Nonoy, a product of Negros Occidental, made his presence felt in Season 82 when he bagged the Rookie of the Year honors and helped the Tigers make their first finals appearance since 2015.

Former team captain CJ Cansino was first to leave the Tigers’ lair at the height of the Sorsogon training bubble controversy and transferred to University of the Philippines.

Brent Paraiso, Ira Bataller and Rhenz Abando left for Letran, while Jun Asuncion moved to Mapua.

During these departures, head coach Aldin Ayo tendered his resignation along with assistant coaches McJour Luib and Jinino Manansala.

UAAP later announced Ayo’s indefinite suspension, a decision the multi-titled coach said he would appeal.

Meanwhile, National University's JV Gallego is also reportedly leaving for an NCAA school, but official announcements have yet to be made.
