Celebs start food business, deliver the products themselves

Like many people, celebrities are forced to be more resourceful while on community quarantine.

Marco Gallo, Neil Ryan Sese, and Jayvee Sumagaysay are among those who started their own businesses, but here’s the twist: they deliver the products themselves. 

The 19-year-old Marco sells homemade cakes. His Kitchen Amore offers Vegan Orea Cake, an Original Icebox Cake, and Marshmallow Cake Balls.

"I was chatting with a friend and we started thinking to make cakes just out of fun and not as a business. That's one of the reasons it's really cheap, because I didn't want to make money out of it. I just wanted to have a hobby for the meantime," he told PEP.

He sells 15 to 20 cakes per day, which range from 190 to 350 pesos.

Neil delivers seafood products.

“Naisip ko ‘yong seafood. So ayun kumuha kami ng puwesto pero hindi pala siya magwo-work kasa since lockdown nga. (Naisip ko) what if i-try natin na online siya tapos i-deliver natin kasi marami namang gumagawa noon 'di ba,” he said in a “Chika Minute” on GMA News' "24 Oras."

Neil sells crabs, lobster, prawns, shrimp, squid, and different types of fish. He shared that every time their customer orders from K&G Seafood, shipping cost goes to their partner bikers who lost their jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jayvee is helping their online family business Sherep. They offer Filipino combination breakfast dishes and more.

"‘Yung kuya ko po kasi chef eh hindi po siya nakasakay ng barko noong April po dapat alis niya kaya ayun po kaysa na matengga, magamit po namin ‘yong skill niya. Nag-more on silog po ako parang magbabahay-bahay na ako, gigising ako maaga tapos ayun mangungulit ako sa kaniya-kaniyang bahay," he said.

Jayvee has also been donating foods to hospitals, hospices, homeless in Manila, LGBTQ senior citizens, and people stranded at the airport.
