The Tarlac Provincial Prosecutor’s Office has approved the filing murder charges in court against a policeman who shot dead last Sunday in Paniqui, Tarlac a 53-year-old woman and her 25-year-old son whose video has gone viral on social media, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said Monday.
“Upon inquest, the office of the provincial prosecutor of Tarlac has found probable cause to indict respondent Police Senior Master Sgt. Jonel Nuezca for two counts of murder,” Guevarra said.
“The criminal informations against accused Jonel Nuezca have been filed in court today,” the secretary added.
Nuezca, 46, shot and killed Sonya Gregorio, 53, and her son Frank Anthony, 25,
during an altercation in Barangay Cabayaosan t around 4:30 p.m.
The suspect was presented for inquest before the prosecutor’s office after he surrendered at around 6:20 p.m. Sunday at the Rosales Municipal Police Station in Pangasinan. He was later taken into custody by the Paniqui Police Station.
“Upon determination of the validity of respondent’s arrest, the inquest proceeding ensued. Based on the affidavits and supporting documents and evidence submitted, there is probable cause to charge the respondent for two counts of murder,” the resolution signed by Tarlac Assistant Provincial Prosecutor Manuel Pascua Jr.
Pascua recommended no bail for the suspect.
