“The DOJ will closely monitor developments in this case and ensure that justice is done,” said Guevarra.

The secretary is referring to Police Senior Master Sergeant Jonel Nuesca, 46, who is assigned at the Crime Laboratory based in Paranaque City.

Nuseca was identified in the viral online video as the person who shot dead Sonya Gregorio, 52, and her son Frank Anthony, 25.

“I am disturbed that altercations like that in the subject incident could suddenly lead to deaths of persons,” Guevarra admitted.

“As soon as the local police has filed the appropriate charges, the prosecutor’s office will conduct a preliminary investigation to determine probable cause,” the secretary said.

Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Nuesca has already surrendered following the incident that took place in Purok 2 in Barangay Cabayaoasan in Paniqui town at around 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 20.

The victims died on the spot due to gunshot wounds in the head.
