Here is one of the coolest things you’ll see on the Internet this Christmas: Lighting up a Christmas tree using a car.

The car in question happens to be a Nissan LEAF, a 100% pure electric vehicle. What made this whole thing possible is a feature called vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology.
This enables the Nissan LEAF to supply energy from the car to, well, just about everything that is powered by electricity. This means home appliances, computers, hair dryers and such. It can even be plugged back into the electric grid and give back energy to the power supply system.
A quick search on the Internet reveals that a Christmas tree is just an appetizer. Nissan LEAF batteries have been used to power football stadiums, too. The Nissan LEAF’s V2X capability can also come in handy as a source of emergency power during natural calamities and disasters.

Nissan Philippines demonstrated the versatility of the first mass-market electric vehicle in the world, the Nissan LEAF, in a tree-lighting ceremony at the Glorietta Mall in Makati City last December 12, 2020.
Using its vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology, the Nissan LEAF was able to power the lights on the 50-foot Christmas tree at the Glorietta main atrium.
Performing the tree-lighting was Nissan brand ambassador Matteo Guidicelli, who simply opened the hood of the Nissan LEAF and connected the universal power cord from the tree to the car. The tree-lighting can be viewed here:

The Japanese automaker is particularly proud of the Nissan LEAF as it represents technologies perfected under its Nissan Intelligent Mobility, a suite of advanced technologies that is taking Nissan vehicles to a whole new level of technology-powered driving.
It has zero emissions, so you can have a cleaner, more sustainable drive everytime you use it. And it doesn’t compromise on performance. A single charge can take you places efficiently – up to 311 kilometers, to be more precise.
It can be conveniently charged at home with the universal cable. Plus, it can be charged and ready in approximately 60 minutes if you use the quick charging stations that are already available in select areas and will soon be available in select Nissan dealerships nationwide.

And because it’s 100% electric, you can say goodbye to the conventional oil changes, tuneups and topups that used to take up a lot of time and money.
You can still catch the Christmas tree being powered by the Nissan LEAF by visiting Alabang Town Center’s Corte de las Palmas happening this December 18 to 20, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
