The PSEi inched up on some bargain hunting as well as window-dressing with the first quarter about to end.
The main index added 7.93 points or 0.13 percent to close at 6,147.44 with sector indices evenly mixed. Volume fell to 1.54 billion shares worth P3.41 billion as gainers outnumbered losers 110 to 75 with 46 unchanged.
“Philippine shares traded quietly in the green as the markets had a choppy week before the last trading day of the quarter,” said Regina Capital Development Corporation Managing Director Luis Limlingan.
He added that, “Locally, trade policy jitters kept the price action muted for most of the day.”
Philstocks Financial Research Manager Japhet Tantiangco said “Investors hunted for bargains today as the market has been in the negative territory for the most part of the week. Foreign investors also entered the market with net inflows at P70.34 million, helping in the climb.”
However, noting the low value turnover, he said there is “weak confidence towards the market amid the global trade uncertainties.”
