It is always fulfilling for talents and production staff to see the product of their stressful days and sleepless nights being aired on screen, may it be on television, movies or on-line. (lalo na kung maraming nanuod ha!) But Im sure many of them have interesting and unforgettable experiences while producing a project. (may pang drama, comedy at action na eksena na never umere!)
I have some funny behind the scene conversations with some colleagues that I would like to share with you. (di ko lang sure if gusto nilang ishare ko sa inyo)
Director Jose Javier Reyes
Direk Joey and I hosted a television talk show with Cristy Fermin, Amy Perez and Lucy Torres for several seasons. In one episode, a young gay personality guested on our show. After his interview with us, he was courteous to thank each of us. He called Direk Joey: Direk, Cristy :Nay Cristy, Amy : Ms Amy, Lucy: Ms. Lucy but for me , he fondly called me, Tita FU! I looked at Direk Joey and whispered: “Pigilan mo ako direk, tamang tama kakagym ko lang, bibigwas ko ‘to!” then we laughed. (joke lang yun pero muntik ko talagang gawin!)
Showbiz Icon Joey de Leon
I was co-host and segment host for Sir Joey’s prank show Wow Mali for several years and his number 1 rule: No Take 2 please! (dapat take one lang talaga kami!) He also didn’t want to be limited with the script of our spiels. He is the king of adlibs! In One taping day, I was not feeling well but of course I still decided to come to work. (sayang TF!) We were shooting our banter together when I got lost and didn’t realize that it was my turn to talk. Instead of having a “dead air” or cutting the scene for a take two, he tapped my butt as my cue to respond to his antics. (as in parang tinusok ata pwet ko! kaya napareact ako! kaya no take 2!)
Veteran Showbiz Columnist Cristy Fermin
I have so many conversations with Nay Cristy because I have done numerous shows with her. (lagi nya kong sinasama sa mga talk shows nya kahit ngayon!) One of my favorite talks with her was during a break time for a weekend show.
FU: Nay, super sikat ba talaga si (name of female personality) noon?
Cristy: Magaling lang magbenta ng ticket nanay nya. Kaya mukhang maraming bumibili ng shows nya.
FU: Pero nagka title sya sa showbiz ha.
Cristy: Nanay nya lang din nagbigay sa kanya nun.
FU: In fairness sa mother ha.
Cristy: Naku anak, si (name of female personality) ay best example ng Produkto ng Hype!
(tawang tawa ako sa produkto ng hype. Simula noon pag tinetext ko sya.. sinasabi ko di yan produkto ng hype nay ha!)
TV and Movie Personality Valeen Montenegro.
Valeen and I were paired to host a television reality show. it was our first time to work together. When I arrived at the set, I saw her reading the spiels.
FU: ay bongga. Professional! May request lang ako ha. isa lang.
Valeen: ay ano yun?
FU: bawal idiot board ha.
Valeen: huh?! Paano yun?
FU: binabasa mo na di ba? Alam mo naman yung flow at yung mga sinasabi. Para mas natural tayo.
Valeen: pero wala talagang idiot board?
FU: wala na. di naman tayo idiots!
(as in, naloka sya. Pero nasanay na sya na pag ako kasama nya. Walang idiot board!)
Congresswoman Lucy Torres-Gomez
I have worked with Lucy in several shows and she would always light up the set (parang laging may divine intervention! Parang may presence ni mama mary!). One rehearsal day for our variety show. We had this conversation: I call her goddess, she calls me ToFU! (mukha ba akong anak ng tokwa?!)
Lucy: ToFu! Wala raw si (name of female singer) sa Sunday. May tigdas daw?
FU: Oo nga raw. Pero ok naman daw, kailangan lang daw magpahinga.
Lucy: Pero tigdas?
FU: Oo raw.
Lucy: Ang laki na nya para magkatigdas. Di ba sya nabakunahan nung bata sya?
FU: Ay ewan ko. naisip mo pa talaga yun?
Lucy: Naku dapat talaga isulong ang Bakuna sa Tigdas!
(magandang proyekto pero natawa kami sa pinaguusapan namin)
Months later she was elected Congresswoman of Ormoc.
I texted her: Congratulations Goddess! We are so proud you!
She replied: Thank you ToFU! Isulong ang Bakuna sa Tigdas!
(so di talaga naka-move on!)
