Best vlogger in the bubble? Award goes to Devance

Should there be a special award honoring the best vloggers in the PBA bubble, perhaps Ginebra's Joe Devance got what it takes to sit on that throne.

Devance is just one of the few PBA players who found solace in vlogging as a way to spend some time off in more than two months of stay in Clark, Pampanga.

Joining Devance in that list of Youtubers are teammates Scottie Thompson and LA Tenorio and Magnolia's Paul Lee and Ian Sangalang while other players resort to Instagram Stories or Tiktok to document their daily lives.

But out of them all, Devance has been the most consistent content creator.

When not hustling in the court, the 11-time PBA champion made sure to capture all the best memories from Mimosa's Quest Hotel to the Angeles University Foundation Sports and Cultural Center.

In fact, as of Dec. 9, Devance has uploaded his bubble entry No. 38.

His popular Youtube uploads feature their third straight win in the elimination round plus Mark Caguioa becoming the longest-tenured player, Ginebra barging into the Finals, and just JDV feasting on his breakfast.

In the hardcourt, Devance, who was traded to Ginebra in 2015, is one of the veteran voices for the younger players.

Though playing in limited minutes, the eight-time PBA All-Star showed that experience shouldn't be counted out during Ginebra's 98-88 win against the TNT Tropang Giga in Game 4 of the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup Finals last Sunday night.

Devance, who began his PBA career when the Ginebra franchise last bagged the All-Filipino title in 2007, became a reinforcement in the paint and posted eight points, 10 rebounds and four assists, gaining the praise of Ginebra coach Tim Cone.

After helping the Kings win their first Philippine Cup crown in 13 years, Devance is still trying to process their historic achievement.

"It feels great. I can't believe that we won," said Devance after Ginebra beat TNT, 82-78, in Game 5 Wednesday night. "Just how we started the conference, we honestly didn't think that we're gonna -- just like what coach said -- ."

Now that the hard work has paid off well, the 38-year-old Ginebra veteran has all the luxury of time to spend with his family. And fans can expect more episodes coming up in "Living Life with the Devances."
