For eight months, we've had either a long, interminable weekend, on which every day had been a Sunday prolonged with nothing special or different to do, or no weekend at all.
But we've had enough of that. Now that we have decided to keep going, despite the risks of infection, we'd like to unblur the lines between the time we spend to make a living and the time we spend living our lives. There's a time for work. There's a time for play. There's a time for rest. We put our lives on hold worrying about our situation. Now maybe we can take the time, just two days a week or three, to set our worries aside.

Last weekend, a three-day weekend, Nov. 2, a Monday, being a special holiday, would have been the perfect opportunity. But typhoon Rolly rained on our weekend parade.
So this weekend is ours!
Cook up, dance up, talk up, shop up a storm. Take it easy. Revive yourself. Restore your sense of wonder. Be alive again.
What to do? Domestic travel is almost back in full swing, as long as we take the necessary precautions, like a swab test, so if you have not secured the arrangements, use this weekend to plan the next ones. Book a trip to Boracay or Palawan. Take a road trip to Tali. Board a bus to Baguio. Check out the Philippine map and plan a trip. Incidentally, the Philippines has won four prestigious titles in this year's 27th World Travel Awards, which has given our country the distinction as Asia's Leading Dive Destination, Asia's Leading Tourist Board, Asia's Leading Beach Destination, and Asia's Leading Tourist Attraction (Intramuros). Now is the time to reignite your wanderlust.

If you're not ready to travel, book a table at some of the restaurants that house some of your best memories. Walk down memory lane at Cafè Ilang-Ilang at the historic Manila Hotel. Express your mixed feelings to a few of your closest friends over halo-halo at The Lobby of the Peninsula Manila. Immerse yourself in an expansive view of sea and sky at Brasserie on 3 at Conrad Manila. And a US prime rib eye, paired with Cabernet Sauvignon, at the Cru Steakhouse at Marriott Manila is always a memorable affair. This week, we have a special feature on these four restaurants in which nostalgia is on the menu -- "And the Best Destination Is...Memory."
Whatever you do, reclaim your weekend. Take a long afternoon nap. Spend long hours lost in a book. Play a boardgame. Cook up, dance up, talk up, shop up a storm. Take it easy. Take a breather. Revive yourself. Restore your sense of wonder. Be alive again.
We're taking back our weekends! Thank God it's Friday!
