4 apps to help heal your mind

It’s easy to get tangled in the stress of everyday life, but don’t rob yourself of breaks. If you’re having a hard time sorting through your thoughts, let these four apps be your breather all at once. Keep in mind though that these apps aren’t substitutes for professional treatment and medical intervention, but they are handy tools that can help calm you.

Happify

Happify may be the app that most explicitly turns battling anxiety into a game. It trains you into thinking positively by engaging you in various “tracks” with different goals like conquering negative thoughts or coping with stress.

By playing through games for a few minutes each day, the aim is to ultimately get into the habit of thinking positively. The vibe check energy is strong in this one.

Headspace

No matter how long you’ve been practicing meditation, sticking with a habit can be difficult—but Headspace offers a solution.

The app includes “mindful moments” to keep you present throughout the day, as well as mini meditation exercises for a quick mental reset.

In addition to a charming interface, there’s a robust library of guided courses.

Calm

This app has more of a new-agey vibe, with ambient music, nature sounds, and scenery. Along with guided sessions, Calm offers breathing visualization and lots of individual exercises and soothing sleep stories. And get this: There is also content available for kids and meditation experts.

Moodpath

Moodpath is like your open-minded, all-ears friend who’s down to listen. It lets you reflect on your thoughts, and asks daily questions to screen for symptoms of depression.

By the way, Moodpath assesses your mental state over the span of 14 days to generate a report designed to aid in discussion with your therapist. So choose from more than 150 psychological exercises while you’re at it.
